Something was wrong with Rainbow Rapids.
Very wrong.
Ava noticed it first.
She was walking towards Explorer Dock with Max and Elsie when she suddenly stopped in the middle of the path.
The Night the Stars Disappeared
It was almost bedtime on Aura Explorers Island.
The shops at Explorer Dock were closing, the last little boats were bobbing in the harbour, and the trees in Wonder Woods were turning into dark shadows against the evening sky.
Ava, Max and Elsie were sitting at the end of the dock, sharing a bag of marshmallows.
Max reached into the bag.
Empty.
It was a bright, sunny morning on Aura Explorers Island.
The waves sparkled around Explorer Dock, the trees of Wonder Woods swayed gently in the breeze, and somewhere in the distance, the Rainbow Rapids could be heard rushing over the rocks.
Everything seemed perfectly normal.
Except for one thing.
The bell hadn't rung.
Every morning, just as the sun appeared over the sea, the Great Explorer Bell rang from the top of the island.
